Changes to the reporting requirements for non UK resident landlords
If you have any non UK resident landlords on your books, you may be required to withhold tax from them and pay this to HM Revenue & Customs on their behalf. You are also required to make an annual return to HMRC by 5 July each year and give the landlord an annual certificate by the same deadline.
From April 2015 HMRC will no longer send out annual return forms to agents and tenants. Instead the forms and HMRC guidance will be available online at www.gov.uk/personal-tax/non-resident-landlord-scheme. As the returns will not be sent out to prompt you to file on time, please remember that you must still submit any returns by 5th July 2016.
